3D TV – Watch the world cup in 3D
From the 2nd July 2010 selected cinemas across the UK will be showing the last six games of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Three of the quarter-finals, the two semi-finals and the final in 3D at the Vue, Odeon, Cineworld and Empire chains will be available in 3D, Sony were awarded the rights by FIFA (the world cup governing body) to film 25 matches of the 2010 World Cup in 3D.
You will be able to watch the 3D games in around 40 cinemas across the UK. Ticket prices are expected to be between £12 and £15.
Managing director of SuperVision, Daniel Webber, commented: “If you aren’t lucky enough to be going to South Africa, this will be the next best experience you can have”
If you can’t make one of the 3D World Cup screenings, Sony will be creating the official World Cup 2010 3D Blu-ray later this year.
Disappointment for those who have invested in 3D enabled TVs in the UK is that unlike America, where ESPN 3D are broadcasting matches, there will be no live games broadcast in 3D.

Live 3D action
With Manchester, Dublin, Liverpool and Newcastle all hosting their own World Cup 3D cinema screenings, London football fans can join the rest of the country in watching the last few games of the FIFA World Cup in glorious 3D. The screenings begin at the quarterfinal stage and continue right up to the all important final, where the world champions for 2010 will be decided.
